Chinese economy grows on domestic support

Then China with over two billion people got into the act swiftly by announcing a 550 billion dollar domestic stimulus spending plan.
Now that seems to be paying off, with China recording a 32% growth in domestic spending on roads, buildings, bridges etc., which is helping it to offset the sharp drop in exports. Even in the month of May 2009, exports have dropped by 26%, while the GDP growth continues to be healthy.
There are also experts who feel that China cannot continue spending billions of dollars on infrastructure, and needs to work on ensuring consistently higher domestic spending by its citizens.
